Nice Guy Finishes First
"I've heard it said once that you had to be obsessed to win a Super Bowl," says Colts general manager Bill Polian, who hired Dungy in 2002. "I think nothing could be further from the truth. Tony is obsessed with nothing except his faith and his family."
"Do I get upset from time to time? Of course I do. What I have found is that we have real men. They understand. You don't have to put them down. If you treat them with (respect), they'll do whatever you want them to do."
Those are some of the quotes from the article written in USA TODAY about Tony Dungy's Superbowl win. Click on the title to view the entire article. Isn't amazing to see the Lord move through His people? I believe we're all put in different places at different times to be a witness to others. Coach Dunly was able to speak at the Superbowl Prayer breakfast. At this Breakfast he shared some of his heart and about his personal relationship with Jesus. The two links below show his speach. Ft Knox, KY
In just under a week, I will be back on active duty. I am a reservist being called back onto active duty. I will be going to Ft Knox, KY where I will be working in the 1st ATB (Armor Training Brigade).
The 1st Armor Training Brigade's mission is to conduct Initial Military Training to standard, providing soldiers who are technically and tactically competent, focused on teamwork, infused with the warrior ethos, and ready to take their place in the values based Army at war. Additionally, it is to also prepare and execute stages of the Fort Knox Mobilization plan, sustain programs, and on order, execute support functions for Fort Knox and the Armor Force. To learn more about the 1st ATB, click on this link below, you will be taken to the training unit in which I will be assigned. If you click on the title of this post, you will be redirected to the Ft Knox Homepage.
I am a Chaplain's Assistant (56M20H) which is the role I will be fulfilling while at Ft Knox. A Chaplain's Assistant is basically an Administrative Assistant for an Army Chaplain. I will be putting programs together for the cadre (commanders, 1st Sergeants, & Drill Sergeants) as well as those going through training. I will also be helping with the day in and day out activities going on at the chapel. So basically administrative and logistical support to chaplains, soldiers and civilians associated with the unit.
Just to give you an idea about the Chaplaincy Corps. Army Chaplain's faith groups rang from Christian, Jewish, Islam, and other various other various faith groups. Of the Christian religion there are basically three different categories they fall under: Catholic, Protestant, and Gospel. The Gospel category contains charismatic/ Pentecostal denominations such as Church of God in Christ and Assemblies of God. Whereas the Protestant category can sometimes be broken down even further into two categories: Liturgical (Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian) and Non-Liturgical (Baptist, 7th Day Adventist, Church of Christ, etc).

I've Fought the Good Fight of Faith
When I lived in Augusta, GA, I had the awesome privilege of meeting a wonderful woman of God at the church in which I attended (Vineyard Community Church). I even had the opportunity to live with her for a few months before moving back to my hometown Charleston, SC. Her name is Diane Brem. She went home to be with the Lord Sunday, January 21, 2007.
Diane has left with me the desire to continue to walk this walk of faith and not just talk it. She suffered many things in life but never complained. This held true not just at church around "church folk," but at work, in the community, and at home. She loved to sing praises to the King!
Diane was such a kind and compassionate woman- full of faith and fight. She battled cancer and chemo but continued to believe in our Faithful Father. Now she is dancing on streets of gold with a glorious body with no pain or suffering!
I thank God for knowing such a wonderful woman and am encouraged to fight the good fight of faith!
