In just under a week, I will be back on active duty. I am a reservist being called back onto active duty. I will be going to Ft Knox, KY where I will be working in the 1st ATB (Armor Training Brigade).
The 1st Armor Training Brigade's mission is to conduct Initial Military Training to standard, providing soldiers who are technically and tactically competent, focused on teamwork, infused with the warrior ethos, and ready to take their place in the values based Army at war. Additionally, it is to also prepare and execute stages of the Fort Knox Mobilization plan, sustain programs, and on order, execute support functions for Fort Knox and the Armor Force. To learn more about the 1st ATB, click on this link below, you will be taken to the training unit in which I will be assigned. If you click on the title of this post, you will be redirected to the Ft Knox Homepage.
I am a Chaplain's Assistant (56M20H) which is the role I will be fulfilling while at Ft Knox. A Chaplain's Assistant is basically an Administrative Assistant for an Army Chaplain. I will be putting programs together for the cadre (commanders, 1st Sergeants, & Drill Sergeants) as well as those going through training. I will also be helping with the day in and day out activities going on at the chapel. So basically administrative and logistical support to chaplains, soldiers and civilians associated with the unit.
Just to give you an idea about the Chaplaincy Corps. Army Chaplain's faith groups rang from Christian, Jewish, Islam, and other various other various faith groups. Of the Christian religion there are basically three different categories they fall under: Catholic, Protestant, and Gospel. The Gospel category contains charismatic/ Pentecostal denominations such as Church of God in Christ and Assemblies of God. Whereas the Protestant category can sometimes be broken down even further into two categories: Liturgical (Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian) and Non-Liturgical (Baptist, 7th Day Adventist, Church of Christ, etc).
